The entire work from the guns, the scrimshaw and the weaved carving in the lid---what a TOTAL composition.
Fitting a MAN like the DUKE, inspired the work you created.

I viewed this post 5 times in the last week trying to come up with something(?) to say other than WOW, INCREDIBLE, AWESOME, SPEECHLESS, words others have already used to describe this. I thought I'd wait till others have chimmed in, then I would, so we could string this call out there for awhile, like it deserves to be ! I'm thinking this call needs it's own sub-forum !   Mike , some peeps work an entire lifetime to develop a legacy of their own, I believe you have accomplished that feat in this work of art alone !  Can't wait to see what the rest of your journey produces !!!

Well, Mike, you've done it again.  You are blessed not only with your scrimshaw talents, but an amazing talent to incorporate several features on a call, duck or turkey, that compliment each other so well.  The themes you choose are so appealing to us all.  Obviously who doesn't love John Wayne and the Rooster Cogburn character?  The scrimshaw features are the icing on the cake!!  This is a true work of beautiful art, friend.  Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy it!!!!!   *up*

I really appreciate the compliments on this call. I updated the post with pics of the final scrimshaw. John Wayne and I are ready to take a break from one another, and I'm sure you guys are ready to see this post fade away, too. Thanks again.
