how to get the wax off????????

 * hi *  i made a trade with some guy for some wood... the darn things are waxed on all 6 sides,, how do you get this junk off the wood??? the wood will never dry with this on. what's is the point of doing this anyhow????

I cut it off with my bandsaw. You could also use table saw to rip a thin layer off each side. The wax helps keep the wood from checking as it dries. It sure is a pain to deal with.

Shadetree is correct.  You mite want to open a small spot on a side and check the moisture level.  If it is still high, think about opening up one side and letting it breath to finish drying.  If ya do this, leave the ends sealed.  It will take longer but it will continue to control the checking issues.

I run it through a planer but leave the wax on the end grain until it dries.
