What happened here?

Both his wings look like this and his breast has all its feathers. I have to wonder what he did to cause both wings to get so bruised.

Could have a predator grabbed him before he got away?  That is very unique

I would say he flew into a horizontal limb with wings down while looking back at a wooliebooger.

That sounds reasonable.

I always wondered how birds don't get busted up worse than they do when you knock them out of the trees in the dark walking in.  You can hear them crashing through the tree tops half mile away.

My guess is he hit some tree branches after being knocked off the roost in the dark.

My guess is he bruised them fighting with another gobbler. Never seen one that beat up, but I've seen them slap their wings together, when fighting.

Had one that had a piece of limb inside the breast all healed over with a hard case of grissle around it. They are really tough birds.
