First week in PA #2

Well I am rusty at posting this was supposed to be in my other thread  ROTFLMBO

I have been getting made a fool by birds all week. Tuesday I met a character turkey that I named Screech because he was such a odd sounding gobble but his long beard is no lier. he hangs with a few other gobblers as well. I was being straight up lazy this morning and did not feel like hunting in the rain. When I got out of bed it was sunny and I was annoyed with myself. I decided to come at Screech and The Boys from a different direction this time.

As I was wlaking in I noticed I had a voicemail. I was still a good ways from where I wanted to go so I stopped to listen to the message. Right after I hung my phone up I heard a gobble. Up the hill there is a decent sized woodlot with pines and briers between two green fields. I figured the bird was on the other side of it so I was headed to the patch of woods to see if I could call him in on the logging road.

once I get to the edge I start looking for the opening to the road and he lights up again but inside the wood lot. I drop my vest and sneak in with my gun and a mouth call. Wet Pine needles sure are nice to walk on when close to a gobbler! After about 2 minutes of tip toeing maybe 20 yards looking for a spot to call from. I stand and scan the woods for a few seconds, I see wing feathers about 20 yards away.

I thought I was done but he did not see me because of all the understory.
I raise my gun up halfway and give him 3 soft yelps he raises his head but it's so thick in there I don't dare shoot. He stares for a good while and then starts to move around in front of me to my right. I see an opening and when he goes behind a pine  I make my move. I cluck and he periscopes... I make a god aweful shot at 20 yards but the follow up put him out.

I don't think it is Screech but either way I brought home my first limb hanger. He sported a 9 inch beard and 1 1/4 spurs. Not a textbook hunt but I'll take it.
