Iowa first season opener
« on: April 22, 2014, 10:41:27 AM »

After a morning of snow, sleet and wind, it cleared and I was able to call this gobbler in from a group of birds during the late afternoon.  Looked like hens were not receptive to gobblers advances, and they were just towing the gobblers around.  23lbs, 1 1/8 spurs, 11 3/4" beard

Great bird Ralph!  I'm assuming a trumpet was used.

Fine old bird!  Congrats!

I don't know how you guys do it in the cold.  My Alabama birds lose all interest when it drops below a certain point.  If I had to choose, I would take rain, wind, fog, and maybe even lightening over cold!
