Kathryn went hunting with me Wednesday morning for a couple hours but had to leave by 8 o'clock. So we went back there this morning. Heard 2 birds gobbling! One in the back corner of the onion field to our left and one in the woods to our right. Onion field bird had hens with him. It wasn't long before the bird to the right was coming. He came marching across that onion field. He gets about 50 yds, stops and is looking hard. Takes a few steps and looks some more. We hear a truck slowing down. The bird sucks up and starts making tracks for the far corner. About that time we hear someone opening the gate. Here comes a guy in to do some trac-hoe. At this time, she's feeling pretty low. Says she's jinxed. I told her it was just 8, still plenty of time left. We walked back to the lower corner of the onion field and I cutt hard on my Hudson hen box to let them know where we were. We walked on about 150 more yards and sat down in a thin tree line. Cutt again. A few minutes go by and I see a slew of birds where I first cutt at. Waited a little bit, they had gone out of sight. So, I picked the box up and did some soft clucks and here they came. 7 hens with the old boy in tow. She laid him out at 30 yds. Put the smile back on her face!!! Now you can't tell her anything!!!!!!!!!
