Gemsbok Horn and Ivory set

Here is a call and matching case I made for a good friend. The case is made from a Gemsbok horn with an Ivory top and bottom which was all hand carved with a knife. The "Stopper" on top was carved from a solid 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch solid piece of Ivory.The wingbone was made from solid pieces of Gemsbok horn accented with carved pieces of Ivory.

Well this project didn't go without incedent , while carving a piece of holly to pattern the piece for the stopper the knife got a bit hungry. Sliced the thumb pretty good.

Dang, Whitt, that is a pretty peice of work...real functional art...everytime I see some of your work I'm just blown away! But , do you sign all your work in blood?...that really is a unique touch! ;D..............Charlie
