Turkey Knife Pic (Please share your favorite knives)
« on: March 23, 2014, 04:21:42 PM »
Just thought I would share another obsession of mine.  I purchased this knife at the 2012 Convention it has a turkey head carved out of antler.  The blade has held an incredible edge. Please feel free to share your trusted hunting knives.

Just finished this one today. I have made 7 knifes as gifts, this is the first for myself. Be along on my turkey adventures starting in a couple weeks.

My Dad was a butcher for 40+ years he gave me a knife he used for boning out hams. It's the ugliest knife you ever seen but I wouldn't sell it for any amount. I will get a picture up of it tomorrow

Those are fantastic looking knives..  My knife of a choice is on the other end, cheap.. A buddy turned me onto these and they are fantastic all around knife.. They get razor sharp, hold an edge, perfect size IMO and have enough backbone for splitting hind quarters or cutting up the brisket on a deer.. Best part cheap, lose it you buy another.. I own a pile of these and they go everywhere and are the first knife I grab..

My dad said it was thick but from sharping it over 40+ years it got that thin.

Here is one I don't use, because it is a proto type, made by George Herron. Mike Battey had George make him a knife just for turkey hunting. This is the proto of that now famous, Herron Turkey Knife. Not sure exactly how many George made over the years, but this knife, is the perfect size.

One of my favorite skinning set made by R. Tabor..Love the knife on the left for skinning a turkey.  I use both of them on deer.  MIcarta handles cpm15v steel
