Need advice

I have had nothing but misery trying to pattern my m1 an sx2. I shoot a kicks in my sx2 an got that new jelly head maximum for my m1 so far I've tried the magnum blend in 3 inch an long beard in 3inch in both at 30 yards an 40 an they are horrible very few pellets in the kill zone at all.  Only thing that seems to work good is good ole Winchester supreme #6 in 3inch. That I have always shot. Can anybody tell me what I can do to fix the problem with the other two brands. Or could it be the guns just don't like them.

What is the constriction of the 2 chokes ie .670... Nothing wrong with Win. Ammo .. Rem. Nitro Turkey seems to work well in Challenge Shotguns..

Reports are that Hevi changed the recipe for their shells and they aren't getting good numbers anymore.

I never hunt a 12 anymore but I have an X2 with a Kicks 665 that digested everything I put through it well.. The 680 is pretty open for some of the dense patterns you will see online..

A few questions.. How large a piece of paper are you shooting at? The bulk of your pattern could be off a 8x11 piece of paper due to jerking or POI problems.. Something 36x36 works best.. How dirty is your gun? Alot of guns tighten up after a cleaning, I prefer clean every shot to keep things consistent.. If your gun has been shot alot since it has been cleaned your patterns will not be very good.

I have a 535 mossberg with a kicks 660 using #5 long beard in 3in. It's good at 40yards..
maybe your barrel needs a deep cleaning

I can tell you hevi-13's shells this year stink... I went from getting on average 200 in a 10" circle at 40 to barely getting 100.  I'm switching to the long beards and will use the older straight 7's where I have to (several areas in MO require non-toxic shot).

My gun never has broke any records, but when you shoot one of the new shells by one of the older shells it's night and day differences!

Thats part of the reason I have switched most guns over to other offerings.. No one should have to spend thousands of dollars stockpiling ammo for consistent results.

I'm going to clean both again an try them. If that's not it then I'm going to try those pricey nitros or just stay with the ole #6 supremes. It's very aggravating  I have almost talked myself into getting a 935 mossy have herd good things about them.

There is zero reason why a Invector+ gun cannot be made into a head smasher, the backbore of the INV+ does very very well.. Check to see if your densest portion is on paper and if need be find a choke in the 665-675 range.

You should be able to look at your targets and see if you are shooting, high, low, left or right, if using a small target. The .680 is a bit open for me, but some folks swear by it. Are you shooting open sight or w/ some type od optics?

Everything is to left of the target. Now when I use just the factory full choke in my m1 with either shell it's dead on perfect pattern. I'm cleaning them both good an trying again this evening.

Leave me save you a lot of trouble the problem is the long beard ammunition. I have never shot a shell in any of my guns that wouldn shoot on zero until I was dumb enough to get a half a case of the Long beards. They shot a good 10" high in the super x 2 31/2". In the model 12 3" they shot 4" low. In the 1100 3" with a custom Bansner barrel the first shot blew the barrel up. There is a 2 1/4 inch x 3/8 wide barrel rupture and the rib was blown straight up in the air.The shot lok must have never fractures and everything went down the barrel until it hit the choke all in tact and then blew up.

I have contacted Olin Winchester and left messages 2 times with customer service as instructed. I have filled out the forms on the winchester web site 2 times. Today I went to bass pro and they are looking into it with there sales rep. but still no contact from anybody.
A friend of mine is having the same problem with the long beard shells. He has tried them in 6 different turkey guns but as of yet didnt blow a barrel. Finallt he took a gun and put adjustable sights on it and adjusted it to the load. Now he is afraid to shoot it because of my mishap. Winchester will not respond is it because there is big problems? I am sure my barrel isnt the only one to rupture. If anybody knows a contact at winchester I would certainly appreciate talking to them before somebody is hurt or worse!

I've owned several M1's and everyone of them has had POA/POI problems. Shooting left or right can be fixed by a gunsmith. Up and down on a ribbed barrel is another question and more difficult to fix. It may well be that by putting optics on the M1 will be the fix you need.
