Big Flocks
« on: March 04, 2014, 03:03:12 PM »
The wife and I took a ride up to our cabin in Pocahontas Co. WV Sat. to check on it  and cut some trees.  I have a flock of about 25 turkey coming in to the back yard there, seen them run when we pulled in.  After cutting 2 wapper pines and making wood for my buddies outside wood stove we took a ride. We seen a flock of 11 long beards, another flock with about 50-60 in it, could not tell what they were we had no binos. with us. We seen another mixed flock with about 25 in it and another flock with 10 hens.  We came back to the cabin eat some supper and turned the heat down before leaving. When we left down at the gate we seen 9 jakes heading up the hill toward our cabin. 5 years ago you could walk all day and not hear a gobbler, and drive the wheels off of your truck and never see a turkey. Looks like they have made a good come back in my area. This was all in about a 15 mile round trip. And the good thing about were We seen the turkey, is that I can hunt all the areas we seen them. Looks like it might be a good Spring.  *up*
