Only have 3 Box Calls so far, What wood combos would u recommend?

Planning to buy a few more, These will be used for Hunting, What wood combos would u recommend & What type of Sounds would they produce? Right now I have a pair of Butternut Box w/ Walnut Paddle & A Black Limba Box w/Walnut Paddle. It's hard for me to tell the sounds on the phone.
How many categories are there for sounds? (Raspy to mellow) What  wood, would fit these sounds. This is a hard subject with so many wood combos!!!

Poplar and cedar boxes with walnut, Cherry or maple paddles are mighty fine turkey killing machines! *up*

Maple/Walnut
Maple/Cedar
Cherry/Butternut
Maple/Poplar
Ebony/Holly

Just too many good combos to list them all.

Here would be my list for hunting!

Walnut/Walnut
Persimmon/Walnut
Walnut/Persimmon
Alaskan Yellow Cedar/Purpleheart
Cedar/Cedar
Poplar/Cherry
Willow/Walnut
Chestnut/Walnut
Sassafras/Walnut

Wow that was a lot longer than I thought it would be :)

Call one of the great callmakers on this forum and tell them what sound you are looking for and which side you want that sound to come from. I am left-handed and play that side of the call the most. I like a higher pitched raspy sound on the left side and several of the callmakers on here made me just what I was looking for. They know what wood combos will give you the sound you want.

Sinker Cypress with cherry lid Sinker Cypress with Osage lid Tim Clayton And Blackfalcon calls here
Mulberry with Kwilla lid  Marlin Watkins Fiddle Back call It is a Killer
Yellow cedar with Zebra lid These are fast becoming my favorites These are Twisting Creek Jeff Mckamey Calls
Poplar with Walnut lid SS Clincher
Butternut with walnut lid SS clincher
Butternut with cherry
Butternut with Padauk lid
Chestnut with Walnut lid
Mahogany box Walnut kid  (Thanks for reminding me Todd) Augiedog has a SS Clincher in this combo that is spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sitka Spruce with Cedar lid (Long Box) Dan Whittenburg
Black Limba with just about any lid but especially Walnut and Padauk
Chestnut and Walnut Jeff McKamey
Sassafras and Walnut
Persimmon and Walnut
Walnut and Persimmon
African Teak and Purpleheart
Osage and Walnut McKamey and Lee Smith calls
Osage and Osage

Where do you stop.....You can't really


If I had to buy just two calls to hunt with.....Sinker cypress short box with Cherry lid and Sinker Cypress and Osage Long box and (AYC and Tiger Wood lid)

The list represents what I know from limited experience but mostly what I have heard from calls and some fine turkey hunters and call makers Especially.

Lots of good combo's mentioned above, but my favorite is Mahogany box with Walnut Lid.

Ain't No way you're getting that one back Al.  RkLuThat call Spits feathers everytime I play it. It don't get any better that that call... *bowing* It  roosts at night.
