Stepside Shortbox with Art by Eric Rice

Here is a curly maple shortbox I built with a cherry lid . I asked my friend Eric Rice to add some art to it and he burned it "live" at the Grand Nationals this year while sitting in Jimmy Scaffers booth , Oak Ridge Turkey Calls.  Eric is a master at combining subjects and he demonstrated that on this lid . If you look closely you will see that the gobbler is layered over a tail feather . He burned tailfeathers on the body which wrap around three sides. This one is for my collection and I hope to fool some birds with her this spring . Thanks a bunch Eric , your skills are amazing !

Eric, has some unreal talent and that is a beautiful example.    Got to talk to him quite a bit this year at Nashville and he's  a very nice guy. This one is made even more special as it was done on site at the convention. Nice job guys. Super looking call.
