2 pots I got done up copper glass matching strikers ,,,, this wood makes for good lookin soundin calls but a bear to finish being oily wood

Nice work Mike! I know what you mean about finish on bocote...it is one of the worst.. Sometimes an acetone wash helps prior to finishing oily woods or thin CA applied as a sealer.

Mike nice calls indeed.   *up* Say, you might want to try and reach out to James Harrison, callmaker of Owl Hoots, I know he uses a lot of Bocote so I suspect he may have some tips for finishing.

I have used this wood before with minimal problems finishing ,,, but this stock just seemed extra oily  :P  I just ended up doing a ca finish on these calls
