On a slate call making kick...

Been playing around with some different woods lately, here's 3 more slates I finished up this weekend...  Mesquite, Heart Pine, and Chontillo

Derick, the Concillo looks a lot like Sapela, is it similar?

It does look similar, but I would say the grain more like padauk than sapele

Thanks for the kind works guy... The heart pine came from a cabinet that was in my parents garage that they were getting rid of a few years ago.  I had no idea what it was at the time, all I knew was one particular board was heavy and had a nice tight grain, so I hung on to it, and finally got around to making something from it.  Not sure how old the cabinet was, but it was a rickety old thing that was there when they bought it, I'm guessing at least 75 years, quite possibly older...

they look good .I got some wood Earl Mickel gave me he said it was bull pine Im think he said Alaska would you like to make pot call out of it ?
