Thanks to all that responded, I was quite proud of this bird, where I live we only have a 3 day fall season, a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday yet at that. I had a short day at work on Wednesday and hunted the afternoon and bagged this fella about 3:30 pm. It will always be a great memory for sure. Thanks again for the looks , Lonnie

Congrats on your fall bird  *cheers*.
WoW didn't know that PA fall season was that short. Here in WI ours runs from mid Sept to Dec. 31.

Scott, Thanks for the look, I should have explained that short season deal. We have different wildlife management sectors here, and depending on where you live(or hunt), the season is different. Sort of a micro-management idea. The area I live in in south central PA only carries a three day season. The land here is agriculture and orchards that run up into state mountain lands. This area is supposed to have fewer birds around, but I see flocks of 40 and 50 all the time. When I first started hunting turkeys here in 1978, there were very few turkeys around. so I guess something is working in that regard. To put the management areas in perspective, I can drive 30 miles west and have a 3 week season to hunt turkeys, male or female. Regardless where or what season you hunt in, your only allowed one bird, M/F , in the fall season. We can harvest bearded birds in the spring, a limit of 2, that is generally a 5 week season in MAY . The mountains around my home offer a quick hunt, especially if its during the work week and daylight is dwindling, and it paid off this time. Thanks for your interest in my harvest     , Lonnie
