Grand Slam set of FinBonZ
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:18:24 PM »
I have been waiting a year and a half to finish this set for a hunter.  He came to me with an Osceola turkey he harvested in Florida and wanted a call made.  He was going to be going for his "Grand Slam" of turkey hunting in the coming up seasons.  I suggested we do a set of calls in honor of his Slam and I wanted to match the colors with the university from the state he hunted in.  So here they are!  Florida, Kansas, South Dakota, and Iowa.  I am proud of the idea and how they turned out. My hope is he remembers each trip and harvest every time he looks at them on his mantle.

Great job on the bonz!

Reminds me of a set I made for Mitchell Turnage. At five years old, he was the youngest hunter to ever harvest a Grand Slam in the same year. I wrapped them with the colors of the state flag for each state in which he harvested the birds.

5 years old?!?!  Quite an accomplishment!

Yelp! Sat between his Dad's legs on each kill. Ironically, the Merriam was his toughest. He had to hunt an extra day to get it. He is on record with the NWTF for this accomplishment. His Dad is Milton Turnage and runs a hog hunting outfit in N.C. called "Hog Heaven".

Sorry, Finbonz, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. As I said that is might fine work. Congrats!
