A welcomed surprise
« on: October 18, 2013, 01:59:48 PM »
Well I'm back in the woods and looking for deer...

Happened upon some turkeys instead. Somehow my natural blind overlooks a little creek with a clearing on the other side and it just so happens there is a flock flying down from the roost there. I JUST missed a nice  *gobble* at 30 yards. Arrow glanced off a twig or I'd have had a nice hit on him.

Going back for another shot...deer be damned. I can't focus on deer with turkeys around...now I'll probably see a buck tonight.  *lol*

You look for one...you find the other.

BTW I'm dam lucky to have found this arrow.

The weather changed. Got really dreary and windy. They roosted early and in a different location behind me. Huge Oak Tree I call "Mr. Salem" because its very spooky. I backed out just before dark and every bird in the tree made a break for it.  :-\

I couldn't get in the woods today. Family time. I'm headed back out in the morning and am hoping I get lucky.
