'Twas the night before turkey season
« on: September 30, 2013, 04:25:38 PM »
in MO and all I can do is try not to forget anything.  Gun is sighted in and shooting straight!  Going with lead #6 turkey thugs out of my 12 gauge.   I'll carry some hevi13 #7s for backup.

I got into a nice flock yesterday with my bow, but couldn't quite get them into bow range.  Hopefully they will cooperate tomorrow and be in Shotgun range!

Gotta pack my calls and get everything ready.  Should be a gorgeous day in the woods.  Then on Saturday, we head to Kansas to go bash some heads (hopefully).  We have plenty of private land to hunt and a ton of public land.  Everyone we have talked to in Kansas so far thinks we are crazy chasing turkeys when it is deer season :)

For everyone who's seasoning starts tomorrow, good luck!  Now just trying to figure out what calls to take  *peep*

K now come on.. you know it's a yellow wagon  *lol*

Called 11 birds in today so far, but 8 of them came in quietly from behind.  5 yards out they alarm putted and they were gone  *cry*  let a round go as they were barreling away and hoping to do a good bust.  They busted in the same direction :(

Called 3 more in about 2 hours ago and they came in some thick junk.  No shot opportunity.  Now sitting up for some night time fun!

Tom Turpin warned about that in his book "Hunting the Wild Turkey"    *lol*
