NWTF Banquet
« on: September 26, 2013, 11:56:50 AM »
Last weekend we held our annual NWTF banquet for the Miami Valley Gobblers Roost chapter of Montgomery county . The banquet went off well and I had a few surprise guests show up this year. Firt were two fine gentlemen and turkey callmakers , Lonnie Gilbert and Jay "Birdman" Burnsworth . Lonnie is our very own Buckey B here on the roost . Lonnie build Buckeye Boxes , some great boxcalls and scratchboxes too. Jay is a huge supporter of the NWTF and has donated close to 450,000 in his fantastic wingbone calls . Both Lonnie and Jay are NWTF awarad winning callmakers and I was extremely happy to have them drive the 4 hour trip to our banquet . Lonnie even managed to win a new Remington shotgun while he was there ! Lonnie donated a nice parquet Gibson call which looked and sounded great , and Jay donated one of his wingbones to us once again. Thanks a bunch for coming down to see me and helping out with the banquet guys !!
Another guest we had show up was our Ohio State Chapter President, Dave Williamson. Dave came all the way up from Cincinnati to buy the boxcall I donated this year . He took home a Turpin boxcall made from mahogany that was re-purposed from an antique table leg and topped off with redheart . Thanks again guys for helping make it a great banquet . Lonnie , I hope to see you soon for some fall hunting my friend !
Bob
