Osage over Walnut Shortbox

Here is another one that has been done a while that I have been meaning to post up.  High pitched and raspy.  This is the second one of these I have built.  It is in the classifieds.  Thanks for looking!!

Awesome box! Great Job Lee. Did you have to use a hammer on the chisel when you checkered the lid?

That's another Beauty Lee. I got the first one and I'm very happy with it. That call has some nice turkey music in it. *gobble*

Had to sharpen the chisel twice!!   ROTFLMBO

Osage is actually easier to checker than purpleheart IMO.

After getting my hands on that piece from Richard at Ozark I wonder why it's not used more on box lids. It seems like the perfect wood. It must be the tuning. I know it turns and sands like a dream.

It does sand great and finishes well.  It does not work as a lid for all woods.  I find it gives a kind of "twang" to some combinations that I don't care for.

Hey now I'm the one (or I believe) that came up with the Osage Twang :)  It's hard to explain, but it does do it... 

That's a beautiful call and another combo I'll have to get on my list now :)
