Frozen Crow Long Boxes
« on: November 13, 2009, 09:25:42 PM »
Here are a couple more new calls for me.  Been toying with long boxes off and on now for over a year.  Been bored with same old same old lately so I finally sat down and worked out the kinks (well most of them anyway!!).  These are the first two that I am happy with.  I find them easier to build than shortboxes, but tuning them will drive you insane!!  Hope you like them.  They are Cedar over Mahogany and Cedar over Butternut.

Lee

Thanks bud!

I guess I really meant that they are less time consuming to shape, hollow out, etc. than the shorties because no checkering, glue-ups, etc.  Once you factor in the tuning time, short boxes are much easier.  They are completely different to tune than shorties!!  Took a long time to figure them out!!  But I am slower than average!!

Nice calls Lee, Just don't try to tune shortboxes and longboxes on the same day, it'll mess your head up!!  ROTFLMBO

You sure are right Al!  I think it was actually MORE difficult to learn to tune these because I already knew how to tune the shorties.  It is totally opposite!!

Thanks Guys!!  Glad you all like them!!

Nice job Lee!! They play a bit different too, however they are a very versatile call, will locate, purr, cutt, yelp, cluck,kee-kee and gobble. No matter how many you make, some combo's will still give you a hard time, the tuning does come easier though after the first hundred or so! *wha*
