Jack's Custom Turkey Calls on the "roost"
« on: November 11, 2009, 11:27:21 AM »
Well I guess this is the place to tell a bit more about myself. My name is Jeff Baronski and I am from a small town in Pennsylvania called Peckville. My father and I started making pot calls in 2001 because we were tired of using store bought plastic pots that we thought all sounded the same and had no "custom" feel to them, so the journey began there........wow what a trip! With no help from anyone and not knowing about any of the websites we have today at our fingertips to help us out, we started with a block of Walnut on a wood lathe and started making sawdust. That call sounded like.......hmmmmmmm someone choking a cat? lol Defanately not like a turkey, so we just kept trying and trying and trying, soooooo many different combonations and depts and widths and let me tell you that winter the shop was really warm cause of all the pots that went into the woodburner! Then it just happened I guess is all I can say? The good lord was on my side and I made a pot that sounded great ( not to blow my own horn) but it did and that was the template we used from then on out for the sound part. Even to this day I am always working on the appearence of a pot. I have a "standard" I use for all of my hunting pots but if I get a special order, I like to do something different and I still feed the woodburner if I don't like the sound or appearence of a pot. I do have to say the best thing about making my own pots is if I can take a child or an adult hunting and they are lucky enough to harvest a bird....the look on their face and their actions are priceless, that is what drives me. Well I guess this is getting a bit long and I am sorry for that but I got on a bit of a roll there lol, thanks for having me guys, you are all special to me for what you do and what you stand for, it's a crazy world out there but when we are sitting on our butts with our back against a big oak and you see that sun comming up and hear a thunderous gobble somewhere in the distance.......we forget about the world around us for a while and that my friends is what it is all about. Talk to you soon, Jeff

Now that's what I'm talking about there!!!  I love turkey calls and hunting to no end.  It's the satisfaction at the end and me knowing how much work and devotion the callmaker has put into his call!
