This call is going...

To two of the nicest folks I have ever had the pleasure to meet, Don & Sarah Clark.  I was very fortunete to scoop a sweet call from Don Clark a year ago at Nationals and this is my half of the trade...shows you how far behind I am on orders.  I must admit I was nervous while building and tuining this call since here again it was going to a very accomplished callmaker in Don and regarding how it would look under the decerning eyes of Sarah Clark, the reigning 2013 NWTF Wood Burning Champion.  I will let them be the final 'judge' but to my ears and eyes, I was happy.  Most of you will never guess the box call wood, but let me tell you, it is HIGH on my list of favorites for tone and for wood burning.  The wood is Cucumber Magnolia and it is topped with Black Walnut for the lid and same for the base.  They used to grow fairly common along the atlantic coast, a big tree from what I hear and even here in the northeast, but they have died off for one reason or another.  This particular piece of wood came from an old home just south of me 1 hr and built in 1863.  It was part of a main beam structure in the center parlor.  The grain is super tight at 1/32"  Once I finished the farm scene I couldn't decide what to do on the other side with the beautiful stain through the rail so rather than mess it up I burned one of my favorite wild plants, a blackraspberry stem.  Sorry to ramble on...and thanks for the look.

That is a beautiful call, as always, Scott.  I love the depth in your wood burned scenes.  I can sit and explore them forever. There is nothing I like better than turkeys and barn scenes.  The floral pattern on the other side is just the right touch, too. Beautiful.
