Well, its over and I am in DT's let me say. From Fla, Ala, Ga and Tenn , we had a lot of action this season. My mountain birds however here in Tennessee were as WIERD as I have ever experienced them in 20 years hunting there.
Thursday found me in Ga where a mineral poplar shortbox, a Ed Jenkins slate and a Gregg Guthridge glass, and a Buice trumpet were the order. The Buice had a issue though as I lost the mouth piece in the last move I made.
The next action was with Aubie Smith-a close friend. He used one of my shortboxes to lure this 1 3/8" spurred bird to the gun..
Then it was a final attempt at filling my last Tennessee tag. This ole bird really liked my Lonnie Sneed slate and Joe Slatons Devistator mouth call
and one of the best hunts was Aubie's daughter Whitley with her FIRST LONGBEARD. The ole bird was coaxed with my mineral poplar shortbox. Whitley put the smack down on this monarch witrh only one shot--unlike her fathers average
We had a great season with over two months of chasing them hard with lots of friends. Got to sit with quite a few buddies as I saw them take their birds also. Memories and great times for sure. Now--its time to start counting down the days until 2014 Spring Season
