Carved/scrimshawed turkey bow
« on: May 13, 2013, 09:00:11 PM »
My cousin in Southern Illinois owns and makes Stotler Archery long bows. We teamed up on a project recently.  He made the bow.  I did the decorating. It's made from hedge with purple heart accents.  This is his personal bow now. This bow is a fast son of a gun, too.  Shoots like a sniper rifle. Jeff and I grew up hunting squirrels together.  Now days we hunt turkeys and elk together when we can and collaborate on a project from time to time for fun. Jeff hunts turkeys with bows he makes.  I'll still take the 12g with 3 inchers.

As a Traditional Bowhunters myself, I really appreciate the Bow and the work that went into it.  The Scrimshaw tips
Are a great touch, never sen anything like them.  Very well done, you are quite talented.

Having made a few recurves bows myself I know exactly what goes into making a bow.  The bow itself looks good but what you did with your art work and scrimshaw is just unbelievable and really sets that bow off.  Your talent and art are just plain AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can see why your brother is not going to part with that one.  The looks of that bow alone could kill a deer!!!!!  Fantastic
