Well, Hello everybody...
« on: April 27, 2013, 10:59:38 AM »
I haven't been on here for awhile.  I just wanted you all to know why:  Last Monday I started to the pasture behind my home to check on the cows there.  I was on my four wheeler.  Now there were two dogs that harassed my cattle all winter.  I had managed to "eliminate" one of them several weeks ago.  Now, as I came through the gate I saw the other one straight ahead, but I was unarmed.  My first thought (and this is where everything started to go downhill) was "I'll just run over your @$$,"  and I gunned the 4 wheeler and the race was on.  He was about three feet in front of me when he ran alongside a clay bank and I dodged at him.  The right front wheel of the four wheeler went up the bank and flipped the four wheeler.  I was thrown off and the four wheeler came back down, the left front corner of the front rack landed on my right leg, about four inches above the ankle.  Wouldn't have hit me any harder if someone had used a sledge hammer. It broke both bones in the lower leg.  Now, there is a great surgeon in Columbus who treats all of Mississippi State's athletic injuries, but he was scheduled for 5 surgeries already that day and I had to get in line for the next morning.  That is when I discovered the sweet benefits of morphine! On Tuesday, I had a titanium rod put down from the knee through the break in the big bone, and will have to go back when the swelling goes down and get a cast.  I'm presently wearing a "boot" and every move I make is a hassle.  What remained of Mississippi turkey season and a trip to Kansas had ended for me in an instant. I'm still in a LOT of pain, and that dog is sitting around somewhere licking his gonads and laughing!
Seriously, ya'll please keep me in your prayers.  It is going to be 6-8 weeks before I can put my full weight back on that leg, and I can't even get out of my home right now.  Ive been putting off dpdating my website, so I guess this is a good time!

Crap, Tom.....I know I'm to old for that kind of rodeo, so I would bet you have learned a hard lesson. Hope everything goes well for you and you get well soon!

Even though you were hurt bad Tom, you sure could have really been critically and even killed. Those 4 wheelers are heavy and can really mess ya up bad when they roll.
I would say- that dog has pay ack due not only for attacking the heard, but now restitution in involved. Pack heat and shoot straight .
Get well soon friend

I missed the part where the redneck says WATCH THIS! I had that broke leg before, took five months to get it out of the cast.
