From firewood to box caller
« on: April 09, 2013, 07:13:48 PM »
Usually it works the other way around for me, build a caller then start a fire with it.  But a buddy brought me two maple logs about 20" long and was wondering if I could make a call out of it.  I cut the blanks in 2011 and made his caller this spring.  Usually don't even mess with spalted silver maple because it decays so quick.  This is the second one from this wood and both have turned out really well.  This one is topped with a redheart paddle and real nasty.  Thanks for the look!
