Daughter Scores!!!

Well its been 3 years in the making that Kristen (My Oldest) and I have been chasing turkeys together and this morning was right out of a script. I have a place I call the chicken house that has been really good to me, and my buddy Chad Scruggs works near there,  every morning he gives me a report where the birds are roosting and they have been near the power line that borders a big green field regularly. This morning Kristen and I snuck down and got on the power line behind some blow downs.. I set her up in my turkey lounge chair got her comfy and sat right behind her...I new we were close so i slipped over the barbed wire fence and stuck up the DSD hen...she was less that 10 yds from us thats as far as I wanted to go. we settled in and shortly after we heard 3 Gobbles from different birds...IN OUR LAP!!!!  less than 75 yards..I looked to my right and could see one of them in the tree...I gave a soft yelp and watched him strut on the limb...I told her we were in a great set up...Shortly after that another gobble different bird EVEN CLOSER!..I yelped softly and heard him fly down...he is on the power line and I hear him spitting and drumming...but we cant see to the right bc of the blowdown...I told Kristen to be ready he could show anytime out of nowhere and I thought he would be close...Well i had no idea how close he came in at 6 steps...We were eye to eye...he is walking in strutting sideways courting the decoy...Kristen stayed motionless and when the bird got in front of her at 6 steps I whispered SHOOT...and she layed the smackdown on him..he folded up like a lawn chair and we hugged for 10 minutes   both of us shaking and laughing and hi fiving...it was priceless...Needless to say I am on cloud 9..Bird had 10.5 inch beard and 1 1/8 spurs..Thanks for letting me share with you guys...

Man, I bet that was exciting!...I love hunts like that,short and sweet!...great job and congrats to you both!

Daddy Tim....I am so proud for ya bud---it just doesnt get ANy better than that friend. A memory etched in your mind forever and ever .
I was sitting on some birds that had not even flown down when Tims elated message came in---he got it done early  *bannana* *bannana*
