Tennessee opening day
« on: March 31, 2013, 12:42:49 PM »
Here is the outcome of a very long day in the mountains here in S.E.Tennessee. Daylight found me in a strange area as I was beat to my scouted out place by another mamber. The early bird won that sign in......he got there at 4:30 am..... *awake*. I had to pick another place and it sounded really good ---till flydown. I heard 3 birds close as I felt luck was with me. The hens carried them away. I heard another that was traveling so off I went. I had him at 100 yds and went quiet,,,waited and waited,,until I had to check him, and he was on the move still in the general direction he was. Fell in behind him on 2 moves and seemed I was always behind him when he responded, So I fell back to a blind I had left on the ground on a gas line....was going to set up shop for the rest of the day. Had 2 groups of hens come in but werent dragging a boy friend. Finally, at 5:30, 7 hens drug me in a victim. Its a good start to the Tennesse season. Hope eveyone has a great season

Good job, and good reminder to slow down and let the turkeys be turkeys.

I would guess the beard close to 11" --spurs were only 1" and he had to have weighed 22-23lbs---he was thick in fat !!

Congrats on a good'un Jeff. That's the way to stay after them. When I leave home in the mornings, it's after dark before I get home.
