We just got slammed with another 24 inches of snow today and you know what I am thinking of.....SPRING HUNTING and ticks! 

Ticks suck! Especially the tiny, pin head size, blood sucking, lyme infecting SOBs. 

Lyme diesase is a big issue where I hunt so we always check ourselves for ticks.  Not uncommon to pull off 5 or so ticks after a morning in the field.  I have plucked off 82 once. That was creepy.  Must have sat on a nest.  Yeah, did I mention that ticks suck. 

Anyways, a few years back I started using a permethrin based spray on my hunting clothes and it's helped considerably.  I have tried Cutters and Permadone.  Wondering if any of you share this problem and how are you dealing with it?  Anything better out there?

Forget the DEET by the way.  It does not work on the ticks we got.

 I got Lyme disease, this Spring. Not much fun, but we caught it in the very early stages. Deet has never worked on ticks, but they do make something called "Duration Tick Repellent" by Coulston's. Repels and kills ticks and mosquitos. It is suppose to be effective for up  to six weeks. Just spray it on you clothes. I didn't use it last year and paid for it.

Sawyers.  I treat my clothes immediately before opening day and touch it up a week later just to be sure.  It seems to keep them at bay.

I got Lyme disease in 1996. Before they figured out what it was, my knees hurt so bad that I, literally, could not stand. It was pretty scary when I tried to get out of bed one morning and fell to the floor. Spent a couple of days in the hospital and it took weeks to get over it. I'm still not as careful as I should be about ticks. This post was a good reminder for me.

I use Sawyers military soak. Good for 6 wks or 6 launderings. I haven't had a tick make it through it in the 6 yrs I've been using it.
