If the birds are easily shocked into gobblin in the spring, whats goin on in their heads in the other seasons?  I've always wondered this.
                Thanks, Doug

In  the fall it's about territory and locating. In the spring it's mating, dominance and hunting pressure makes a drastic difference.

mikey is right on all points but I have heard both adult and jake birds gobble in the fall. I have heard jakes gobble because they are learning how but I am sure that adult birds can be shocked into gobbling but would be very difficult to call in.
Complete line of turkey, locator, deer and squirrel calls.

Ive heard them gobble in the fall and winter here in georgia, but I wasnt sure if there was something going on in the turkey gene that made them shock gobble in the spring. I havent heard them gobble at owls or anything else for that matter in the fall/winter. Guess I'll give it a try just to se whats up.:)

I am in Ga also, and you are right about the winter. Sometimes it takes another Gobble to get them to Gobble. A hose or Gobble box or a kee kee run will do it sometimes. I always left locators at home in the fall and used something that would Gobble. That was in Alabama, Ga still doesn't have a fall season.
