Unique Tube Calls
« on: February 26, 2013, 07:32:55 PM »
Fresh from the shop.  A bull horn tube call with gaboon ebony lip rest and my oval shaped mouth piece.  All done by hand the hard way.  approx. 3" tall.  Love these tubes from horn, something about the sound out of them.

The second tube call is a little duffer with big time play...hand shaped and carved to look like breast feathers.  It is Ostrich bone.  About 2 3/8" tall and 1 1/8" wide.  This little gem plays awesome, calls as soft as can be with little ease and can get very loud too.  The control of it is sweet and smooth.  I should keep this for myself but its gotta go.  This call is very dense and heavy weight, the bone is something very close to ivory but harder.  Both calls are available if anyone is interested.  This Bull Horn tube is $50 and the carved Ostrich Bone is $55.  Pm if interested.---Jason

It really pays a guy to learn one.  I struggled years ago learning to run them too.  Frustrated the dog outta me but I kept at it and got with guys like Mike Battey, Cornbread and Jason Booser...guys I feel are some of the very best and learned a lot.  Get with someone in person who truly knows how to run them and the learning curve isn't quite so painful.

I can sound somewhat turkeyish on one,but lack the consistancy and confidence to use one in a killing situation...Ive even made a few of em,and still have em...Kinda like a trumpet call,I can use one but lack the confidence to use one...Im more confident with a mouthcall....Need to practice practice and practice some more.
I know some guys that gobble on them, and they sound just like a gobbler!
