I'm beginning to like hunting them.  Especially in the rain.

Mero,
If you get around to making the 3 step idea let me know.  There are some beautiful boxes there, but I am limited on my space.  I need something that can fit on a shelf for now.  We are getting ready to build a new house with a man cave above the garage, but until then I am limited to a 10x12 office for my hunting room.  Any more pics or ideas would be great.

How much room to have on the shelf in terms of height?

This is what I use. It's a bobbin rack. Spray it down with a little stain and it looks pretty good. Cheap and effective!

Oh yeah...I cut about a 1.5" off the back legs to make it set flat cause the way it comes, it leans forward a little.

I had that idea myself but haven't picked one up yet.  *up*

Peter - there is a very fine trumpet call maker on this site that does quality hardwood turned bases with industrial amber posts that holds the trumpet upright and stable.  They are of trumpet call quality and are beautiful and very display worthy.  He will have to call himself out though  *peep* as I am going to keep his shades on.  8)

I think that's what I'm looking for? I don't need a display case but I need an attractive base so they will stand upright and be secure. I have several free standing and if one goes they will fall like dominos. Thanks for the heads up.

I got home around 6:15 and with the time change I decided to make a yelper stand.  This is my 2 hour yelper stand.  It is 24" and will hold 45 yelpers. I spaced the dowels 1.5" apart which seems to be perfect.  I used 3/16 brass for the dowels.  It's not a work of art, but when I fill this with beautiful yelpers it will certainly look good.

That's exactly what I had in mind, nice work!  I plan on building something like that for my collection.
