One You Do Not See Everyday
« on: January 24, 2013, 02:45:16 PM »
I had to post this paddle pot call again. I think Chuck Anderson posted a picture of it before he sent it to me. It is a crotch walnut slate over slate. Paired with the Gib Ott Plum striker it will be a killer. Chuck never ceases to amaze me with his woodworking talent. Thanks again my friend for such a fine call.

That sure is a beautiful call, but I am at a loss as to why a handle was added....other than for aesthetics.

Congrats!  *up* *up* *up*

I'm with you Bill. Even the aesthetics doesn't make sense, only makes it cumbersome to carry. IMO

Congrats Rickey!

I see the "Rat Pack" has to be critical of Chuck and his work anytime they can. I may not be the greatest turkey hunter in the world but I own and have run a few calls in my life, and a pot call is like a box call. I explained this to one of the posters recently. You get different sounds on the box call depending on where you hold the lid and also the box in the off hand. You get different sounds with the pot call if you cup it, hold it around its edge, or hold the handle away from your hand. The sound is not muffled when played by holding the handle.

If you took my post as being critical, of you or Chuck, I apologize. It wasn't meant that way!

I don't use a pot call but if I did, I'd want a handle on mine to get it out of my pocket easy and without touching the surface. I guess it's a good thing we aren't all alike.  Life would be such a bore *cheers*

Well said David.

That's a dandy gobbler Scott and Chuck.
