MO self guided hunt info
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:53:58 PM »
Folks, I'm looking for info on booking a MO self or semi guided spring turkey hunt. Preferably in the northern counties. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Are you set on the Northern Counties?  Reason I say that is I'm from the Southwest area and my opinion is the better hunting is down here.

Now, the problem would be, trying to get private land to hunt around here.  Might be an issue anywhere you go in MO.  There is a lot of Public land that isn't over hunted and holds good numbers of birds.  I really think you could do it all on your own.  We have so much Mark Twain forest land.  Only downside I see to this is you'd have to put some scouting into it to figure out where the birds are at.

Let me know more of what you are looking for and I'll help you all I can!

I have hunted the southern and central parts of Missouri several times in the Mark Twain National Forest over the years and taken several birds on public land. The key is to find a place you can walk in and get away from people. I have hunted with an outfitter the past three years on a combo two state hunt in southwest Missouri/southeast Kansas and this hunt has been unbelievable. My son has hunted with me two of those three years and we have filled 14 of 15 tags. A few of the birds were in the 25 lb, 4 to 5 year old range. Turkeys do not get hunted much in that part of the state. My son and I are booked to go back again next spring.
