nothing like taking a child hunting
« on: December 17, 2012, 10:45:38 AM »
Friday evening was setting at home and got a most recent imfo phone call from Steve, one of my hunting buddies. He was in Fayetteville( really close to ole Daryls stomping grounds) deer hunting on a piece of ground we turkey hunt on. He said we had ducks on the pond away from our flooded corn field we usually hunt.. Its was on.......we called Aubie and decided a road trip was scheduled for 3:30 the next morning. Aubie had his daughter this weekend so she was in too. Scouting reports had a group of 40-50 greenheads resting on the pond,we had four gunners ready for daylight..
Sat morning daylight came, and the weather was misty rainy, but the ducks began showing. Dont know where all the greenheads were, but a few showed, alot of Gadwalls and a fine pair of Pintails.Whitley had em in her face--they were working the decoys like the rules say they should. Whitley, Aubie's daughter was hammering em like a pro !!! I witnessed her drop the hammer on one I thought was out of range ----it fell stone cold dead !!! She is a good shot ---we had a great time. Duck hunting is hard around here most of the time so you really appreciate a hunt like this one. There is nothing like seeing a young one have a great experience!!!

a farmers never gets enough sleep.....this is Aubie sttressing about the hunt on the drive there-- ROTFLMBO
