I just started building this Gibson. It's a Spalted Hickory with a Blackwood lid, even without doing any sanding or tuning to it, it wants to play. All I've done to it so far is hollowed it out and shaped it, dropped a paddle on it. It has a high pitched sound with a raspy breakover and seems to be a loud sounding call. I've never done one with hickory for the box, but I cut the tree down from my back yard, and saved a bit of it for calls. We will see how it tunes out and finishes?
