Moose on Grandis
« on: October 16, 2012, 06:06:33 PM »
Did this burning on Grandis which I'm told is like cedar, but I think the wood is to grainy. thought I would post it and ask your opinions of the wood! I normally use Maple & Beech and was hoping for a cheaper substitute, so what do you think?
added more detail to better see if the wood is useful for burning on.

I believe Grandis is Grand Fir and yes it is quite similar to cedar, but yellow cedar.  We frow them out east as Christmas trees and they also make a great tree for dense naturalized screens for visual buffers and for large estate plantings.
