EHD is back in SW PA !!!!

EHD- (Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease) cause by the bite of insects called biting midges..

It hit us in 2007 and it back.. My hunting area is hit hard.. Are count is about 70 die deer!! The farm I hunt on and joining farms. We had 20 to 30 deer hitting the fields and food plots to right now 12.. Found a 140 class 10 pointer on Sat..
Right before bow season!! It feels like being slap in the face by your wife or girlfriend in FRONT OF YOUR MOTHER..
Between this disease and are PGC.. The deer herd will be O in PA.

Anybody else getting this disease..PGC said it could be 7 more weeks.. We need a KILLING FROST too stop this midge..

I heard it's in Cambria Co. Pa and Northern Hancock Co. WV...

Hancock county has CWD. We also had EHD in Marion and Monongalia counties in 2007.
Lots of folks thought that it had been released by the PA DNR and the coal company to lower the deer population. Something you could never prove. There was a hollow down here that had about 300 dead deer. The good thing is that it didn't travel far.

It hit the Wardensville, WVA area back in 06 or 07 also. The deer herd there is in much better shape, now. Sometimes. Mother Nature works out for the best.

It is Mother Nature at her worst,..but like Bill says,.in the long run,..sometimes it makes things alot better.   Deer herds bounce back real quick.

I was in Hillsville, VA. this past weekend and had several hunters saying the same thing about their deer. They were finding dead deer in the streams and ponds.
