SNAKEBOOTS----there is a reason

Had a work day today on my mountain properity. Went up there to get the clover fileds prepped for over seeding and liming in two weeks. Had a buddie with me, and my snake boot on,,,,laced up HIGH and TIGHT 
Had a couple of encounters that I am sure glad of that I wont now have before daylight on a early spring morning. These are Two  mature timber rattlers that meauserd 52 1/2", abd the other was 49 1/4". The bigger was seen and clubbed easily. The smaller one however got in cover and my buddie saw me in persuit with a big stick---he knew after seeing me take out the first what was up. He came in hot on a tractor making alot of noise. There I was in waiste high grass scarred out of my witts. Couldnt see or hear him because of the tractor noise. He finally head my EXCITED DEMANDS to get away or shut off the tractor so I knew what was going on. Founf him then.....too close for confort.....but these two will not bite me chasing my turkey birds now.
I know alot of guys like em, but my motto is "the ONLY good snake is a DEAD one". I am TERRIFIED of these critters. Got video of the smaller striking with my phone, but I was shaking too much .......

Steve, We have rattlers and copperheads in PA. I am further north than you.  I don't go up the mountains in the summer. I HATE SNAKES TOO!  I agree with Jeff's motto, "the ONLY good snake is a DEAD one".

There are rattlers in the mountains here also but nowhere close.
I hear of a copperhead every few years but they are very rare.

I have never ran into 2 rattlesnakes on the mountain in one day. We are covered up with Copperheads .....I'd say I see 5 to 1 copperheads to rattlesnakes.
Just walked out to the shop to glue up two bases. The neighbord cal moved in ther shrubs as I passed----I almost cleared the moon. Guess I am still  jumpy !!!!

Those are pretty big. Might make some nice boots. We get fined for killing them here.

Steve, I am not sure about your part of the state , but where I come from in Greenbrier county, WV, I have killed way over one hundred rattlers and they make those TN snakes look like garter snakes . I have shot 61/2 foot long timbers that were as big around as baseballs . And the old-timers told tales of snakes close to 10 feet long ! I'm with Jeff on this one , the only good one is a dead one , in the wild anyway . And don't believe that garbage about rattlers always leeting you know where they are before striking ! I have walked by them on deer trails and got struck with no warning . Ifytou step where they are , you will get bit ! Nice work Jeffro !!

Jeff,   I see that you have Rocky boots, as do I.  I was told that mine didn't have snake guard on the tounge of the boot.   Have you or anyone else ever heard that?
