Working lunch for a couple of THUGS.
« on: August 15, 2012, 03:52:37 PM »
Once again my job took me into North Central AR today. I was able to slip away for a couple hours to help poor ole Ricky who was neck deep in his "work" of "talking turkey".

After a lot of hard work we took a break to eat pork, turkey, corn, and grilled onions right off of the smoker! Man can he cook and I am better than average at eating good cooking!

Then we had a little chocolate cake his wife had made with ice cream. I am still hurting!

As always in the South lots of sweet tea and big stories! Good times!

Yessir, it was a tough day. David got to the house and had a bag of goodies he thought I might like. He had loaded up a bunch of his calls from callmakers he knew I did not own any from and brought them with him. We ran them for a good while and I got to add a bunch of names to my "Wish List". He had some dandies. But I am convinced this young man can make any call sound like a turkey. Awesome talent. He needs to make an instructional video on how to run all types of calls. He is that good. I looked at the clock and it was getting close to lunch time. I had forgotten about the loin and chickens on the smoker. Well, I drug out a few a mine and we ran them between bites of food. I would swap calls out every so often but a few kept showing back up on the table. Seems David took a liking to a couple of them. I told him I would do an inventory when he left. He put together a scratch box/striker combo of mine I had never tried. It will blow you away it sounds so good. We had to take it outside to see if it was really that good. It is.

Great time was had. It just shows you that this wonderful sport of ours can give two guys with such differences in age a common interest and goal. Heck, my oldest son is older than David. I look forward to out next get together and wish Porter, Bruce, and David Ferguson who live fairly close could come down and join us. All I can promise is if you leave my house hungry it will be your own fault.

Shoot, ill make the drive from GA to eat on some vittles like that.

The important question for me now is who is on the new hit list? I see a nice Buice laying around on that table.  Who is the other trumpet from.

Del,

The other trumpet on the table is a Ralph Permar.

I would love to have you two guys here at the same time. As good as you two run calls that would be something to hear.

Del, a few on my hit list are Buice trumpet(s), Mike Lapp boxes, Ed Terefencko boxes, Irving Whitt boxes, Permar trumpet, MKW trumpet, and a place to stay when my wife kicks me out! Some of this list is on order! *bannana*
