Last weekend brent, frank and I visited a good friend of ours, Jeff McKamey. It was certainly a hoot hangin out with those guys and a weekend I will never forget! After some laughs and a few mishaps we began making turkey calls. Jeff was nice enough to let us build our own calls in the Twisting Creek shop and I soon realized why his calls come out sounding soooo good!. It took me some lengthy thinkin but I finally came up with a combo I wanted to use. I chose butternut and wanted to top it off with canarywood but with a different twist--ebony as the inlay since I hadnt seen that before on that combo--and soon realized why!!! That ebony gave me some fits and after ruining a few paddles Jeff stepped in and came up with an idea to fix the problem. After some sanding and getting the lid on and chalked up and put together--she had a yelp with plenty of rasp and rollover that brought the biggest smile to my face. After a little tuning and sips of apple pie shine, McKamey had he singin the way she made to do! I cant thank him enough for his guidance and letting me build my first call--one that I will always remember and carry in my vest. I named her "Shine On"
thanks Jeff!
