Solar Kiln Build

Could have sworn I posted some info about this already but I don't see it. I built a solar kiln to dry the wood I get locally and thought you might like to see some pics. It was a budget build using as much free material as possible but because I had wood given to me that needs drying I did buy more than intended. So here it is 5 ft wide 3 ft deep and 4 ft high at the back tapering to 1 ft at the front. The top and front are removable for ease of loading and vents are on the back where you can't see them.

According to my research it can cut drying time from a year per inch to as little as 5 weeks. hope to find out soon.

Nice!!  I was thinking about a similar project....I've been getting a lot of scrounge wood...needs to dry somewhere other than the garage...

That is one reason I built this even though I have a drying shed just for wood. I needed something that generated more heat and did it for free. A quick search found plenty of ideas and plans mine is about as simple as you can get but it heats up and stays dry. Hope you get one built.
