Poult update
« on: July 19, 2012, 05:55:35 PM »
I put my poults in the big pen a few weeks ago. They had a hard time adjusting to being in the land of the giants. A couple days ago my chickens were making a ruckus so I went to check them out. I couldn't believe what I saw in the turkey pen. I guess my Adult gobbler, and ruler of the pen, adopted my chicks. He had 2 chicks under 1 wing and 1 under the other and another chick was trying to get to him but there was a 2X4 in the way. Last night all 7 poults were trying to get next to him. I guess they feel safe next to the big dog. Turkeys never cease to amaze me.

How do they take to living in a cage?  Do you let them out of the pen?  I wonder if you could use the hen as a decoy!  *lol*   Gary  *up* *up*

You can not use live decoys in CA. I let a few different ones out of the pen on occasion. Most of them become decoys after they grow up.
