That is seriously "down home" for me. Devil Anse's great grandson (Cap Hatfield's grandson) lived just down the street until his passing couple years ago. He wrote several books on the feud and had a lot of the old historical documents and such. I think he even had some of their old firearms but I personally never saw them. He was one of Dad's big buds. It is a shame that some much of the history like the old homeplaces have been allowed to just rot away. I went by the Hatfield cemetery the day after the last episode and there was a bunch of folks gathered around the little historical sign taking pictures. The big marble statue is so grown up in weeds and such ya can't see it anymore. And yes, Steve, I mite have been one of them gun toters hidden up in the rocks. I think you got to see my elbow or gun barrel or something.

Overall, I enjoyed the series but not sure how much "liberty" they took with the historical accuracy of things. This was tough country back then, not to different than many frontier areas, so folks applied the law as they saw fit. I'll bet Witter was all tore up with all them BIG JUGS of popcorn being shown.
