Like the commercial from Capital One....... what's in your wallet theme.

When I "load up" I will have a longbox, short box, push button, 2 trumpets, slate and glass, mouth calls, tube,scratch box, crow and owl.

When it get's hot and or I need to strip down and go lite.... trumpet, slate,scratch box and tube.

One call...... Trumpet hands down. ( kinda strange,maybe, because of all the friction calls I have designed or made )

After owning way to many callers   and just the fact I like to switch up which callers I take and get some field time in, there are only 2 callers that never leave my vest. A Southland Tube I have had since 85? and Crow call. I lost my fav Gibson crow call I carried for like the first 12 years and then replaced it with M L Walker.

I like to start light in the season, small box and 5 or 6 mouth calls, as the season progresses start carrying a couple of pots (home made slate and crystal), steves hickory stick, jeff's long box, a mudpuppi trumpet, BB short box, and snacks, bino's and..........

I shave it down to make it a little more aerodynamic. It seconds as meskeeter club!
 
I've took a like'n to these trumpets as my second choice.

Like some of the rest, I start off pretty weighted down. As season progresses, I've narrowed it down to an MKW, J.L. Erb, L.F. Cox and Matt McLain trumpet, which I've been rotating out, one of my wingbones and Jordans, a Russell Beard handled shortbox, a John Eddleman cutter call and a Russell Beard scratchbox. I keep a set of shears in my vest to cut any cane that I may run across while hunting. It has been so hot and humid here that you have to run the AC in the vehicle at 5 A.M and drink a bottle of water before you get to your hunting place.

I started to ride a mountain bike this year, and I am traveling lighter than I ever had.  I carry a water bottle on the bike.

I have a Rohm Brothers all walnut box on my belt.  I have a stacked frame mouth call.  And I have a Hegler trumpet around my neck.  Sling the newly acquired single shot over my shoulder and off I go.

 

I have been having the most productive season ever so far, what an opening week.  Into gobblers four days I hunted all day long.  Called a jake (passed on him), couple hens, a couple of gobblers all in, just no shooting.

I take a few extra calls with me in the beginning then change it up as the season goes on. Along with the must have items we all have, I carried my Walnut BeReady Wake-Up trough call and striker, A Do-Dat shorty from Jeff Mckamey. A couple of pots, the collaboration copper call FKIII and myself did together. I added a Wildtalker slate this year to my vest, which really sounded great and used it to get the double my buddy and I pulled off opening day. A bunch of extra strikers including a Black death locust from Steve Torman. Shady Tree call and scratch box from the Shadetree. A couple of trumpets, one from Mike Battey and another from Ralph Permar.  Boom !!

As a non-call in my vest I would have to say hunting the Low Country for so many years that the Thermocell and the you spray and treat your clothes for ticks and cigars...... was the greatest things invented. Having a pair of clippers is another  "must have" there too. The next for me would be a GPS.
