These scratchboxes are made from wormy chestnut that I salvaged from wood from the house I grew up in . You guys know I love historic wood , and what a story this wood has ! Our house is listed in the county Historical Register and was built in 1849 from wood cut onsite and bricks made in the yard . A bad storm several years ago tore the old roof off of the back porch . The beams were hand hewed peg and hole construction . My brother suggested that I cut the wood up and see what it was . To my surprise it was beautiful wormy chestnut . The other woods are ipe and sapele . Thanks for looking .
