Hickory / Black Walnut Box
« on: April 07, 2012, 09:31:08 AM »
Just finished up this box call this morning.  This call was made for a friends nephew who has been after him for a long time to get me to build him one of my box calls.  The lid on this call is a two tone piece of Hickory with Yellow Heart Inlays, with the box having Black Walnut Blades with the end blocks and base all being one piece of Cherry.  This calls right blade starts out real nice with a nice raspy end to it.  The left blade is higher pitched and also rolls over real nice.  My wood burning needs some work but I guess I will never get any better at it if I don't practice.  I even put this call to task this morning with 5 long beards that just wouldn't shut up after I cut loose with a yelp from the box.  They appeared to like both blades of this call so I am REAL Happy with how it turned out.

Comments welcome and thanks for the look.
