Whats in your Wallet?,....i mean Vest!!!
« on: April 05, 2012, 08:44:29 AM »
Well,.gonna take a much needed break over this Easter Weekend to be thankful and pay respect,....was gonna load the vest with a bunch of new calls for April,...but I just can't get away from the Ol' Faithful's.  This year I'm using one of my cedar scratch boxes (tree callin),...one of my Soft Talker slates, My old reliable purpleheart over cedar box,..one of my Black Magic Aluminum's in a canarywood pot,..an Albert Paul "henry davis" series box, and one of Basehore's Long Boxes that is arguably the Best Long Box on the planet.  Along with some of Josh Grossenbacher's mouth calls, i think i have everything i need,....will probably add an Ernie Fetters ebony trumpet before the season's over too.     what is everyone using??

I have a new vest for this year that only has half the pockets  *cry*
I am going to have to think pretty hard about what stays and what goes.

LMBO!  Since Malinda (my wife) said she isn't carrying my vest this year, I have a bit over a week to decide! Actually, I have been carrying fewer and fewer calls each year. I always have a couple mouth calls, a soft calling slate call and one or two trumpets.

Billy Buice box that only calls in three years olds, two Quakerboy World Champ mouth calls, Two of my pill bottle tube calls, Lynch pro-mini for soft calls.  Cody World Class Slate.  My little indestructable Jordan, a wing bone call I made, and My Roanoke Trumpet that works when nothing else does.  Makes for a light vest.  Also a ratchet brush cutter that probably gets more use than the calls  ;).

Every year it has been different.  I take new calls that I got that I like to give them a try.  I always have shells, mouth calls and toilet paper (Lol). As i get older usually a water bottle it gets hotter each year now in PA during the spring.

I have been blessed to have calls made by friends and a people I know and respect.  I take them all and try and change my vest up each day if I plan to hunt the same area for a couple of days to give an ole tom a new sound he may not have heard.  That is about it!  This year will be real different as I have lost all of the remaining private property that I have hunted for the last 35 years.  So I am bring my entire stock of calls because I may be hunting state game lands, I hate that too.
