Turkey Country Magazine
« on: August 28, 2009, 08:56:41 PM »
So how many of you like or dislike the new Turkey Country Magazine?  When they stated they were consolidating Turkey Call and some others, I never really figured they'd post Tonging for Texas Oysters in a Turkey magazine.  There are a few good articles, but I have a hard time seeing how that fits into turkey hunting.

I'm a true supporter of the NWTF and I'll keep supporting them, but I hope they provide more turkey info in the future.  Now that's just my opinion.  Funny part is, the quail article didn't bother me...  maybe I'm biased ROTFLMBO

Turkey call was all about turkey hunting.  I want to hunt with dogs at one point in my life.  Kansas allows them, so I may have to find someone to go with.  I think it would be a blast!!

I remember when I first heard about using dogs... thought man that's a disadvantage, then I started reading and realized how hard it is to keep them concealed!

I would say I liked Turkey Call better they are incorperating too many subjects into one publication. I am not sure which way they are headed yet under the new administration. Time will tell, at times it seems that they are getting involved in too many things not turkey related recently.

Let's give it a couple of issues before deciding.  I've been a member since the late '80's and have seen more than a few changes!  Some good, some.......................

After just one issue I hate to offer an opinion but it was asked for so here it is.

I , like a few others want my turkey magazine to be all turkey and will give this one another couple printings before deciding if I like it or not.
Complete line of turkey, locator, deer and squirrel calls.

I haven't made up my mind.  At this point I like Turkey Call better.  The Texas Oyster thing has still got me wondering and I don't want any other kind of hunting mixed in with my turkey hunting.

Maybe the Oyster Tonging was meant to help you pick a dead bird off the ground *aah*

We'll see.  I loved Turkey Call, so I know right now I'm biased.  Also, I'm assuming if they keep it this way, people letting them know they preferred the other format would help big time.
